  • Can phone cards…
  • Make local calls?
  • Be used on cell phones?
  • Be used on 1-800 numbers?

Phone cards can be used to do all of the above. However, phone cards are usually used for long distance, and that is what makes them economical. It is cheaper to use your regular phone service for local calls. Cell phones may be subjected to higher rates and fees, as well. 1-800 numbers are toll free calls and can be used to make such a number.

    Can phone cards…

Can I use phone cards on a rotary phone?

Phone calls cannot be placed on a rotary phone using a card. We regret any inconvenience this might cause.

    What is your return/exchange policy?

All sales are final on purchased phone cards. If in the event that a problem arises, please contact the phone card company or contact us at support@ibuyphonecard.com

When does my phone card expire?

Phone cards are all different and they have different expiration dates depending on the company. Please go over all information about the phone card you want before purchasing it. All product information is available prior to purchase, including access numbers which may or may not be toll-free, customer service numbers, expiration dates, routing information, connection charges information, and more.

What is the difference between local and toll-free access?

Toll-free access numbers begin with a 1-800, 1-888, 1-900 and 1-877. Most phone cards have toll-free access numbers, but on some, local access is used. Local access numbers are regular numbers like area codes around your neighborhood, such as 1-212 or 1-718. Usually local access numbers are in cheaper phone cards, with lower connection rates.

I don’t live on mainland U.S. Can I still use the phone card?

There is no problem with most phone cards. However, on some phone cards, there will be different rates or hidden fees. To make sure whether or not your phone card can be used, it is best to check with the company itself by calling the customer service line made available to you on the page about your phone card.

Can I place calls on phone cards in other countries?

Our selection of phone cards can currently only be used in the U.S. or Canada. We regret any inconvenience this might cause.

Does the rate change from the time of the day?

No. Prepaid phone cards have a constant rate. Once you pay for them you will get your value in minutes that remain constant. It is not like a long-distance calling plan where your rates will change from time to time depending on the end of the day. However, during popular calling hours such as nighttime, weekends or holidays, you might experience some traffic when dialing the access number. This is completely normal.

    What are monthly/pin-maintenance charges?

On some cards, there is a periodic charge that might happen if there is any value left on your account at the end of a period. This can be monthly, semi-monthly, or weekly, starting from the day you first use your card. This is also known as a pin-number maintenance fee.

    What are access charges/connection fees?

Access charges are charges deducted from your phone card every single time you make a call. How much that costs vary from phone to phone, although they are all comparatively low.

Should I buy a card with or without a connection fee?

Choose the one that is most economical for you. Depending on how you plan to use your card, you can choose the one that is best for you. If you plan to use the phone card all at once, a connection fee is the one that will save you money. However, if you plan on making multiple calls on one single card, choose the one without the connection fee.

    What are rounding charges?

Routing charges are charges put on by the phone card company when you place a call. For example, if you make a call that is 0:14:32, it will be automatically charged as 15 minutes. This is one minute routing. Like everything else, all cards are different and the rounding is different for each one. This is a practice used by the phone card industry to make it easier for them to charge. We have no control over this.

    Troubleshooting

Why is my access number busy every single time I call?

This tends to happen during peak calling hours, such as on nighttime, weekends and especially holidays. Access numbers can only handle a certain volume of traffic and that is why you will get a busy signal. When you have this problem, simply try again with alternate access numbers, or just simply keep calling. You will get through eventually.
